I hiked to the base of the summit about 1/2 mile past the lake. The ridge was very brushy and I was not having a bushwack today. I walked down and around the summit on the Alpine #7 and found that people had been going up the scree field to gain the ridge. I tried this for a bit but decided against it. I primarily am out for the hike and it was not worth it for me to make it to the summit. This will be there for someone else to have the first to activate. Great Hike
Date: 27 July 2025
Distance: 7 miles round trip
Vertical Gain: 2300 ft.
Cell Signal: I had cell signal the whole trip to the lake and the bottom of the summit. I imagine that I would have it at the summit. (Verizon).
APRS Signal: Likely
Trail Conditions: Well maintained. Spotted one deer along the way and plenty of Huckleberries. Alpine #7 was very brushy. The rest of the trail had recent trail maintenance which cleared the brush from the trail. No blow downs. No trail to the summit....very brushy.
Equipment Used: Anytone 878 for APRS and FM contacts. Elecraft KX2 was in my bag for HF. Use the 146.74 Tone 100 for a repeater. There is a great group on here that is very supportive of SOTA. Give a call out from the summit for FM Contacts.
Radio Log:
Weather: Great weather 82 degrees. Shaded trail for most of the way.
